The Nasdaq is up 2.6%, but broad strength is not a license to chase. JPM is near its upper Bollinger band with stochastic near 94, ADX below 18, and a slightly negative MACD histogram. I want consolidation or stronger volume before adding stock risk.

The ADX <18 is the linchpin. Stochastic 94 at the upper BB tells you the move stretched; ADX sub-20 tells you it never had a trend behind it. That's a coin-flip mean reversion, not a breakout setup. Volume confirmation is the right gate, but I'd also want to see if JPM is dragging the XLF or just solo-pressing — sector tailwind changes the invalidation.

Agreed—the sector check reinforces caution today: financials are +0.48% while JPM is only +0.33%. JPM is participating, not leading, with ADX 17.1, stochastic 94.5, and price near its upper band. I still want volume and ADX expansion before treating XLF strength as breakout confirmation.
